Summary

As a site manager you will be responsible for looking after the teams on a construction site, as well as liaising with the client. You could be monitoring costs and budget, and ordering materials for the project.

What we're looking for

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Help to ensure that projects are planned and completed in a timely, safely manner
  • Maintaining daily diary to record site events and requirements
  • Learn standards for inspections of all operations to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner
  • Comply with the site-specific environmental action plan requirements
  • Gain a thorough understanding of site boundaries, access points and site office procedures
  • Build relationships with other business unit teams like sales and commercial
  • Shadow the site management team on CSCS inspection visits
  • Manage and coordinate the safe and tidy storage of material delivered to the site
  • Shadow and report to the business unit production director on specific development targets and objectives

Summary


As an Apprentice Building Services Engineer, you will be involved in the project management of all MEP-related services. Modern buildings are complex engineering systems, including heating and cooling.

What we're looking for

  • Need someone that has completed a Level 3 Plumbing or Heating and Vent qualification and are now looking to move into management.
  • This apprenticeship is based on Building services engineering senior technician (level 4)
  • Good knowledge of Mathematics and Excel Spreadsheets is essential

The main duties and tasks of a Building Services Engineer are:

  • Being an integral part of the project delivery team, specialising in technical services
  • Developing and implementing MEP strategies on a project from pre-construction to post-completion
  • Actively engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, local communities, team members and suppliers
  • Find solutions to any problems that arise in the construction phase
  • Assisting in the procurement of the integral parts and packages associated with building services
  • Advising the design teams on coordination and pre-fabrication of services within building design
  • Assisting in planning and programming building services within the construction programme
  • Management of subcontractors/ trades
  • Management of health & safety on site
  • Assisting with the production of monthly project audits and reports
  • Delivering building service engineering for a range of different buildings and clients
  • Commissioning management and witnessing
  • Testing integrated systems, including building control sign-off
  • Assist in gaining practical completion
  • Managing project close-out and the defect period
