Rafik explains how completing a CoTrain Apprenticeship has helped him towards his goal of being a Quantity Surveyor.
Rafik Asryan recently completed his apprenticeship as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor with CoTrain and plans to start a Degree Apprenticeship this September. We caught up with Rafik to find out how he is progressing in his career since completing his apprenticeship and how being a CoTrain Apprentice has helped him to gain the experience and knowledge he needs to take the next step towards his goal of becoming a qualified Quantity Surveyor.
“CoTrain have provided me the opportunity to gain both the experience and qualifications allowing me to take my next step in becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.
I had started the course in 2016 where I had been introduced as a trainee QS. As an apprentice, I have had the opportunity to gain the experience as well as the qualification which is incredibly vital within the industry.
Having been predicted two D* for my BETC course and a Pass on my NVQ, I have been offered to study a Charted Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship at both South Bank University and Nottingham Trent.
CoTrain have provided me with all the support required throughout my employment, expanding my knowledge within the industry. As I had been employed to a small ground works company, I was immediately thrown into the deep end and within a year I had been issuing valuations, wrapping up tenders, organising plant and materials for multiple sites, agreeing on final accounts and many more surveying tasks.
My responsibilities had increased throughout the year and soon I had been tasked to look after various sized projects. Now I am aiming to start my Degree Apprenticeship in September, this will allow me to gain my degree as a Quantity Surveyor as well as becoming an RICS member. Once I have obtained my degree, I wish to continue with ThamesBridge Construction and advance within the company to become a vital member of the business.”
CoTrain would like to wish Rafik all the best in his Degree Apprenticeships and to eventually becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.
