Summary

Based mainly at the Guildford Office this apprenticeship will teach you the skills you need to get a construction project from a drawing to a real 3D usable building. Will involve, design, planning, procurement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Some travel to projects in the South East and London will be required from time to time.

What you'll do for work

  • The Apprentice will support the Planning and Design department to formulate a construction build plan for various projects.
  • Collaborative approach to work and learning as you will spend time in various departments within the business to get an overall knowledge of the initial concept, design, end use of the project.
  • Making sure that the project is always moving forward by utilising new methods, materials and building techniques whilst it complies with all building regulations, safety standards and is fit for purpose for the client to use as per their brief.
  • The apprentice will also monitor and collect data from site to check on budgets, efficiency build methods and control of waste management and sustainability of the build project.
  • Working with teams from the client, design team, planning team, estimating team, quantity surveying team and the build team the apprentice will need to have good communication skills

Summary

CoTrain require three new apprentices for this contract. You will based on the site that is easily within travel from your home address as we have multiple sites across the South East of England. From North Surrey to the South Coast of England. As a Construction Site Supervisor you will support the on site Build team to produce a building that meets all legislation and quality required for it to be handed over to the client. Sites will vary from new schools, new prisons, leisure centres etc.

What you'll do at work

  • Help to ensure that projects are planned and completed in a timely, safely manner
  • Study daily diary to record site events and requirements
  • Learn standards for inspections of all operations to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner
  • Comply with the site-specific environmental action plan requirements
  • Understanding of site boundaries, access points and site office procedures
  • Build relationships with other business unit teams like sales and commercial
  • Liase with site management team on CITB inspection visits
  • Manage and co-ordinate the safe and tidy storage of material delivered to the site
  • Shadow and report to the business unit production director on specific development targets and objectives

Summary

This position is for someone that is interested in construction finance and how to manage budgets with various suppliers and sub-contractors. You will work across 1 site initially but will get involved on with other projects as you get more experienced. Locations are across the South East of England so we will consider anyone that lives in the West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire Areas.

What we're looking for:

  • This apprenticeship is based on the Level 4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship
  • Good knowledge of Mathematics and Excel Spreadsheets is essential

What you'll do at work

  • Assisting senior managers with the budgeting of construction projects
  • Control of costs during a construction project
  • Selection and management of specialist contractors
  • To contribute to the mitigation of disputes using accurate records
  • Recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project
  • Valuation of progress on construction projects
  • To assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project
