Apprentice Site Technician

Trade: Construction Technician

Area: Taplow/Maidenhead (Berks)

Salary: 16-17 year old = £10,140:00 p.a. , 18-20 year old = £11,356:00 p.a.

Benefits: Weekly travel allowance of a maximum of £25 per week. Health and Safety PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Boots, Hi-Vis etc). CoTrain will also reimburse you the cost for the CSCS Test and Card.

CoTrain are currently recruiting for a Construction Technician Apprentice's in the Taplow/Maidenhead area.
The successful applicant will be working on a busy construction sites/offices (Housing Project) in this area and the surrounding areas, working alongside a large well know Construction Company's and its professional personnel.

The Apprentices will work with qualified and experienced Site Managers and Project Managers. Duties will include (but are not limited to): * assisting the Project Management team in running a busy and demanding construction site * ensuring site diary is kept and maintained * conducting site inspections with the Site Manager * working with Estimators, Surveyors, Planners, Buyers and Site Managers * attending meetings with the Project Manager and other external partners. Successful applicants will work safely and responsibly at all times, and must have a positive and enthusiastic approach to work and training. This is a site office based role and will be demanding.

Applicants must be organised, punctual and highly motivated, with an excellent attendance record. Initially you will be working on a new build project. The role will include 4 days per week in the workplace and one day per week at a College undertaking an industry recognised Apprenticeship Framework. College may not start until Sept 2017 but we will try and start College sooner. However we will give you guidance on what site evidence you should be working on so you are ahead of the game when College does start.

Previous experience or qualifications in construction are not required but would be beneficial. GCSE A*-C in Maths and English or equivalent are required. If you have ambitious of a Professional career with the possibility of further training after your apprenticeship then this is the first step of the ladder to reach those goals and hopes. At College you will be studying a BTEC 3 “Construction in the Environment” alongside an NVQ3 in “Construction Contracting”. The length of the apprenticeship will be two years from the start of College and help will be given at the end of the apprenticeship with on-going employment and progression. Ideally you will live within 20 minutes of Taplow/Maidenhead using private or public transport.

Vacancy: Roof Sheet and Cladding Apprentice – host placement: Kovara Roofing Wokingham

NVQ Level 2 Roof Sheeting and Cladding Apprenticeship

Working with an established roofing company with opportunities to develop with the company after completion of the apprenticeship. Based in Wokingham you will be involved with travelling to their surrounding sites, to install roofing and cladding, on commercial building projects

Required: The successful candidate will ideally be 18+. A driver preferred

Additional benefits: Weekly travel allowance up to a maximum of £25. Support and funding to achieve the CSCS Card, supply of Personal Protective Equipment and a basic tool kit.

College : Attendance at College will be on block release 2 weeks at a time, 4 times a year and the College

is based in Glasgow. Transport and accommodation costs to and from college are covered by the employer.

All PPE will be provided and College program organised for you.

Working with the main and sub-contractors on site you will learn all aspects of Ground-working (General Constructive Operative). You will learn how to set out an area before excavating the ground safely, to support the excavated walls, and construct form work for concrete and how to install different types of concrete correctly. Other skills covered will be drainage, kerb laying and road surface preparation and coverings. Protecting the work area and making sure it is safe for all other construction workers is an important part of this role.
Only applicants that have a full UK driving license should apply.

You will attend College on a block release basis (College to be decided) to support your apprenticeship to gain Diploma 2 and NVQ2 in General Constructive Operation qualifications, with a view of progressing to a Level 3 apprenticeship upon successful completion if you wish to.
The successful applicant will be working in a controlled H&S environment and being taught to recognised industry standards to provide you with valued qualifications required by the industry for future career progression on a range of exciting construction projects. This position is due to start in as soon as possible.

 CoTrain is a Shared Apprenticeship Scheme part-funded by CITB. They offer apprenticeship training across all areas of construction at both craft and technical level. Ideally the applicant should be able to travel to the sites in the Aldershot/Hampshire areas in under 20 minutes using private transport. A CSCS Card is required and successful applicants will be given instructions how to book the test etc. All applicants will need to register with CITB, again instructions will be given. A good level of Maths and English is required for this position with Grade’s A to C or equivalent being beneficial but not necessary as Maths and English will be added to your course if you have lesser grades.
