BTEC Level 2 Ground Worker Apprenticeship

Working with the main and sub-contractors on site you will learn all aspects of Ground-working (General Constructive Operative). You will learn how to set out an area before excavating the ground safely, to support the excavated walls, and construct formwork for concrete and how to install different types of concrete correctly. Other skills covered will be drainage, kerb laying and road surface preparation and coverings. Protecting the work area and making sure it is safe for all other construction workers is also an important part of this role. 

You will attend College on a block release basis to support your apprenticeship to gain Diploma 2 and NVQ2 in General Constructive Operation qualifications, with a view to progressing to Level 3 apprenticeship upon successful completion. The successful applicant will be working in a controlled H&S environment and being taught to recognised industry standards to provide you with valued qualifications required by the industry for future career progression on a range of exciting construction projects. This position is due to start in June 2018 with interviews in early May 2018. 

CoTrain is a Shared Apprenticeship Scheme part-funded by CITB. They offer apprenticeship training across all areas of construction at both craft and technical level. Ideally, the applicant should live in the following areas so that transport can be provided (pick-up) "Frimley, Sandhurst, Aldershot and Bracknell". A CSCS Card is required and it would be beneficial to gain this as soon as possible. You can book the General Operatives test at www.cscs.uk.com. Once passed, we will advise which Card to apply for and reimburse you the cost of the card. Please keep the pass letter safe. All applicants will need to register with CITB and pass the online assessment via www.bconstructive.co.ukA good level of Maths and English is required for this position with Grade’s A to C or equivalent being beneficial.

CoTrain… are currently recruiting for a Construction Technician Apprentice in the Abingdon Area. The successful applicants will be working on a busy construction site/office. Working alongside a large well known Construction Company and its professional personnel.

The Apprentices will work with qualified and experienced Site Managers and Project Managers. Duties will include (but are not limited to): * assisting the Project Management team in running a busy and demanding construction site * ensuring site diary is kept and maintained * conducting site inspections with the Site Manager * working with Estimators, Surveyors, Planners, Buyers and Site Managers * attending meetings with the Project Manager and other external partners. Successful applicants will work safely and responsibly at all times, and must have a positive and enthusiastic approach to work and training.

This is a site office based role and will be demanding. Applicants must be organised, punctual and highly motivated, with an excellent attendance record. Initially you will be working on a new build project. The role will include 4 days per week in the workplace and one day per week at a College undertaking an industry recognised Apprenticeship Qualifications.

Previous experience in construction is not required but would be beneficial. GCSE A*-C in Maths and English or equivalent are required. If you have ambitious of a Professional career with the possibility of further training after your apprenticeship then this is the first step of the ladder to reach those goals and hopes. At College you will be studying a Level 3 qualification in “Construction in the Environment” alongside an NVQ3 in “Construction Contracting”. The length of the apprenticeship will be two years and help will be given at the end of the apprenticeship with on-going employment and progression. Ideally you will live within 30 minutes of Abingdon using Public or personal transport.
