Alex Fowler and June Wilkinson of BAM Construct UK present CETC with prestigious award
CoTrain apprentice Alex Fowler, Apprentice Site Manager with Mace and June Wilkinson, Education and Community Co-ordinator from BAM Construct UK presented Fareham College with the award for the Apprenticeship Initiative Award at last weeks Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2018.
The award was won by Fareham College with their Civil Engineering Training Centre (CETC) - a simulated construction site that has been designed to give civil engineering apprentices a realistic training environment to get them site-ready.
Judges were looking for forward thinking organisations that are committed to creating a flouring climate for high quality apprenticeship programmes. Head judge on this year’s judging panel, Darren Birch, Regional Framework Manager of BAM Construction, commented, “The Apprenticeship Initiative category, sponsored by CoTrain, seeks forward-thinking employers that actively and innovatively develop a sustainable workforce by equipping young people with skills, knowledge and confidence. The Civil and Engineering Training Centre (CETC) is an exemplary model of an employer-led apprenticeship programme that is co-designed to meet skills shortages and productivity issues.”
Also shortlisted in the Apprenticeship Initiative category were Telford Homes Plc, HOP Consulting Ltd, Osborne Construction and Westridge Construction.
The Constructing Excellence SECBE awards will return in 2019 with entries opening in December 2018.
